PIECE OF MIND

"Title track, ‘Piece of Mind’ is dangerous and exciting. The guitar riff is reminiscent of The Sex Pistols because it brings a snarling attitude to their music. I love the solo because it gives the song a classic rock twist, making me think of the Manic Street Preachers. Jack’s drumming and Michael’s bass keep a strong backbeat, demonstrating how tight the musicianship is. George’s vocals have a lot of swagger and carry the song forward. The chorus is an instant earworm as George sings: “And I’m waiting tonight / to be by your side / in a place we can hide / for a little piece of mind.” It’s definitely one of my favourite choruses of the year because I can see it resonating with a lot of people."

"‘Piece of Mind’ is a perfect introduction to The Straights because it’s got a variety of styles. The listener can feel the blood, sweat, and tears that’s gone into this EP, and I’m sure it’ll bode well for their future"

NEVER THE RIGHT TIME

'Never The Right Time' is the second single release by The Straights. It comprises of heavy guitar swagger, with tones reminiscent of 90's British rock, with a modern edge jamming its way through the forecourt of brighter undertones.

A 'no-nonsense' musical attitude springs to the attention of the listener, with the band taking the track back to rock and roll basics, whilst still maintaining an original twist.

ANOTHER WAY

"The quartet released ‘Another Way’ on Friday, their second release of 2022. The track showcases subtle guitar lines that sit beneath a smokey vocal, giving the track a mournful tone. The peace doesn’t last though; pounding drums and distorted guitars replace the subtle tones in the song’s latter stages, injecting the tune with the raw sound fans have come to expect from the group".

LET IT TURN
TO BLUE

LET IT TURN TO BLUE is the fourth official

release from The Straights. In this single, the band continue to demonstrate their creative arsenal, by diversifying their sound, and branching out from their archetypal, swagger inducing musical origins. 'Let it Turn to Blue' explores a different variation of tones and energy, mashing a melancholy plod with a rampant, electric thrust, which carries the song well into its instrumental guitar solo.

EMPTY STREET

EMPTY STREET delves back into the bands rough and ready, guitar heavy roots. The Straights showcase their graceful, melodic song writing style, morphing this with an unapologetic, boisterous auditory firecracker. Screaming guitars, thrashing percussion and furious vocals... 'Empty Street' is a brash, bollocks fuelled belter.

DEAD SET DETECTIVE

Heavy rain, an old house, an unsuspecting young woman and her deranged admirer. The Straights return, tearing down the hatches with their boisterous, tone-heavy musical accolades. Dead Set Detective diversifies the bands creative arsenal, gently floating from one section, to slamming the song off its hinges, perfectly reflecting the depths of the songs lyrical narrative, poised as an ambitious, theatrical clash between a sincere, heart warming love song and a hammer-horror inspired tragedy.
