BIOGRAPHY
Formed in 2019 in the city of Portsmouth, The Straights are the very definition of a modern DIY success story. Comprising of George Years (Lead Vocals), Billy May (Lead & Rhythm Guitar), Michael Arthur (Bass Guitar), and Jack Crash (Drums & Percussion), the band has carved out a distinct sound — unfiltered and unmistakably British — while proudly producing their music independently.

From the explosive energy of their debut single “Piece of Mind”, which gained FM radio traction across the UK, US, and Canada, to the underground anthems that followed, The Straights have become synonymous with high-octane live shows and authentic, guitar-driven songwriting.
Along the way, they’ve earned the praise of UK chart-topper Rick Witter (Shed Seven), Brendan Benson (The Raconteurs), and Billy Bibby (Catfish and the Bottlemen) — all acknowledging the band’s raw talent and undeniable appeal.
With howling guitars, a pulsating rhythm section, and George Years’ impassioned vocals, the band is both a throwback to rock's golden eras and a bold step forward.

Their reputation as a must-see live act has earned The Straights slots alongside rock royalty, including support for Buzzcocks, Inspiral Carpets, The Bluetones, Space, STONE, The Luka State and Trampolene.
